Most of us know baking soda (or sodium bicarbonate) as the white powder we buy for baking recipes or to neutralize whatever mysterious smell drifts out of the back of the fridge. We’ve probably used it once or twice to scrub away stubborn stains, but beyond that, it usually sits tucked between the flour and the pancake mix, waiting to be remembered.
