Kitchen Cabinet Color Ideas: Whether you are planning to update your kitchen design by painting your existing cabinetry a new color or are in the midst of a remodel, this post covers a broad range of exciting options to choose from. This year, homeowners are choosing colors more intuitively, with the design ethos being centered on emotional resonance and authenticity rather than the latest trends.
Neutral tones, such as creams and pale taupes, have evolved in 2025 to incorporate warm and soft hues that blend seamlessly with other design elements, providing the perfect backdrop to add personal touches. Greens remain an enduring favorite, offering a calming connection to the natural world.
From olive and sage to deep forest green, these colors foster a nurturing and welcoming environment. Blues, ranging from moody navy hues to soft powder hues, convey tranquility and relaxation. Dark cabinets in shades of browns, deep reds, and black are also taking center stage this year, bringing unparalleled depth and drama, while adding a rich grounding element. Here are a few stunning kitchens designed by top interior designers that feature cabinetry in a broad range of colors. Feature image courtesy of West of Main.

1. Bright Whites in a Modern Farmhouse Kitchen
Bright white kitchen cabinets will always be a favorite choice for many homeowners. Susan Marinnello designed the interior of a lakeside home that boasts gracious outdoor entertaining areas. Her design philosophy was to create interiors that would not compete, but rather provide a backdrop that would complement the stunning outdoor views. In the kitchen below, she incorporated layers of understated neutrals, including white cabinets, with the inclusion of darker-toned woods and moments of color.

2. Warm, Creamy Hues in a Rustic Kitchen
Warm cream kitchen cabinets pair well with a wide range of design styles, from country to rustic, farmhouse, modern, and coastal. In a North Carolina home situated amidst spring-fed ponds and the remnants of an old apple orchard, interior designer Amanda Wyatt designed an interior that combined loose Craftsman references with rustic and contemporary influences. The modern rustic kitchen features Shaker-esque cream cabinets painted in Farrow & Ball’s Mouse’s Back, primitive wooden stools, polished materials, and European oak flooring.

3. Dark Green
In a home on a plot of land in South Carolina surrounded by ancient oaks, a connection to the outdoors can be felt throughout the space. Interior designer Honey Collins began introducing richer tones in the hallway that carried through to the kitchen. Collins chose deep green kitchen cabinets (Farrow & Ball’s Studio Green) that appear greener in bright daylight and more conservative and darker in lower light. Further design features include white marble countertops, light wood flooring, and silver hardware.

8. Two-Tone Cabinets
Individual expression takes center stage in 2025, with two-tone cabinetry being a standout design trend. Many interior designers are combining different colors and textures by pairing natural wood finishes, such as oak, walnut, and maple, with grounding neutrals like gray, navy, and green. In a versatile and timeless kitchen designed by Laura Kehoe, a rich navy blue is paired with light oak cabinets, marble surfaces, and luxurious lighting fixtures.

9. Warm Metallics
Metallic accents elevate kitchens to a new level of sophistication, especially when introduced into the cabinet design. In a stylistically cohesive kitchen designed by Travis London for a formally trained chef, beautiful materials were sourced, including beautifully striated onyx, metal cabinets, églomisé panels, and marble. These elements, combined with a soft pink ceiling treatment, a sculptural vase, and open shelving, create a sense of romance, drama, and a reverence for the art of living.

10. Bold & Vibrant Statement Colors
Although kitchen cabinet colors are trending towards earth tones this year, statement colors are also making a bold splash in 2025, providing an avenue for self-expression. In the kitchen below, interior designer Alissa Johnson adds an unexpected element with burgundy cabinetry. Contrasting white walls and a dramatically veined backsplash add visual interest and dimension.

White oak reigns in 2025 due to its organic feel, timelessness, and versatility. White oak cabinets have gained popularity among those who appreciate their beautiful natural grain, warm tones, and the ease with which they pair with a wide range of textures and colors.

17. Pale Sage Green
In a Sonoma County home designed by Lindsay Gerber, a combination of French Provincial and Nantucket styles was incorporated to complement the Mediterranean language of the home’s exterior. Gerber created the color palette by hiking through the valley, collecting small tree branches and leaves from olive trees, old oaks, and grapevines.
The result – creamy shades of tan and the occasional flourish of soft greens were chosen to complement the warm neutrals reflected in the plaster walls. The new cabinetry was painted the perfect shade of sage green, echoing the subtle tones found in the striking landscape.

18. Dark Earthy Greens
In a home located in Lake Tahoe, KTG Design drew inspiration from the landscape. The house features a large number of windows and glass doors, and they wanted to create a strong contrast by designing a moody kitchen. KTG chose Studio Green paint by Farrow & Ball to pay homage to the surrounding pine trees. Further natural elements were incorporated throughout the entire kitchen to connect the interior with the landscape, including a hemlock ceiling, a plaster-finished vent hood, and unlacquered brass fixtures that will patina with age.
