If there’s one space in your home where thoughtful details and accessories make a big impact, it’s the bathroom. Whether it’s your primary bath, a guest bathroom, or even a small powder room, the right linens, towels, accessories, and styling touches can completely transform the experience. I’ve been refreshing our bathroom with a few elevated essentials from Quince, and today I’m sharing my best designer tips for creating a bathroom that feels like a boutique hotel… timeless, serene, and layered with functional (and aesthetically pleasing) comforts.
Layer Luxury Bath Towels
Boutique hotels always get one thing right- really good quality bath towels. The quickest way to elevate your bathroom is by investing in or replacing your old bath linens with plush, high-quality bath towels. In the past, I shared the best classic white bath towels for any budget (tested & approved).

I just ordered Quince’s Turkish ribbed quick dry bath towels (in the color silver), and we’ve been loving them. They’re super soft, absorbent, and have that classic, hotel-quality feel. Here are a few tips for choosing bath towels:
- Stick to neutral tones like crisp white, soft gray, or oatmeal for a timeless look.
- Always layer sizes: bath towels (or bath sheets), hand towels, and washcloths create a curated vignette for any every function.
- I like to keep towels out (styled in the bathroom)… rather than tucking them away in a cabinet. When folded or rolled, they add warmth, texture, and a cozy aesthetic to the bath.

If your bath towels are good quality and are in decent shape, maybe they could use a deep clean to revive them? Here’s how to wash towels back to white with laundry stripping!
Incorporate Thoughtful Accessories
Boutique hotel bathrooms always feel intentional because every detail is considered- even when there isn’t a lot of counter space. Instead of cluttering your counter with mismatched products, opt for cohesive, functional accessories- and corral them, so they look more organized.

Some of my favorite ways to elevate your vanity…
- Marble, woven, or ceramic trays to corral daily essentials.
- Coordinating soap dispensers and toothbrush tumblers for a polished look.
- Sleek storage jars for cotton balls, bath salts, and Q-tips.
- Quality soaps, bath products, or candles… bonus points if they have visually pleasing packaging. If they don’t- decant them or find alternative toiletry containers for an intentional look.
These subtle upgrades create visual balance while keeping surfaces functional and tidy.

Stock the Essentials for Guests
Even if you’re styling your primary bath, consider keeping it guest-ready. Boutique hotels always anticipate your needs, and your bathroom should do the same for you (or whomever is using it).
These are my essentials:
- Freshly washed bath linens
- Quality toiletries
- Cotton rounds, swabs, and tissues
- Matches, a candle, or room spray
- A clean, durable bath mat
- A waste basket
- A laundry hamper (if you have space)
- Slippers
It’s easy to make overnight visitors feel pampered, and it also keeps your space organized day-to-day. If you have a designated guest bath, definitely give this in-depth post (with a detailed list) a read: Stocking a Guest Bathroom: Essentials for Visitors.

Spa-Like Takeaways
If you’ve ever stayed in a high-end hotel, you know that luxury lies in the details. I borrowed a few cues to create a spa-inspired bathroom at home:
- Upgrade your shower curtain to linen, cotton, or a waffle weave for a softer look… and make sure it extends all the way to the floor.
- Add a stool or small bench near the tub for extra storage or warmth to round out the vignette.
- Swap harsh overhead lights for warm, layered lighting.
- Incorporate a few natural textures… woven baskets, wooden trays, or rattan accents.

The goal is to create a bathroom that feels intentional and restorative, without being fussy or cluttered.

Find Your Fragrance
One of my favorite boutique hotel tricks? Honing in on a signature scent. A consistent fragrance throughout your bathroom can instantly make the space feel more elevated and cohesive. I rotate between a few favorite candles, diffusers, and bath soaks, but choose something fresh, clean, and subtle… nothing too overpowering.

FAQ
The minimum I recommend in a guest bath… two bath towels, two hand towels, and two washcloths per guest. Roll or fold extras in a basket so they’re visible and accessible.
We actually built that when we renovated our guest bathroom. I shared a burl bathroom vanity DIY, along with similar burl parsons tables, here!
Start with quality towels and a durable bath mat, then add matching trays, jars, and dispensers for a polished, boutique hotel inspired look.
Aside from towels, I’d definitely say the tissue box. Get yourself a cover! Here are 20 aesthetically pleasing tissue box covers.
