I got rid of 90% of my desktop shortcuts using this single trick

I used my Windows desktop as the place where I opened almost everything. My browser, writing folder, downloads, and screenshots all started there. If I needed something, I searched for its icon and clicked. Everything important lived on that screen, and it felt like the front door to my PC.
