Cabo’s Most Celebrated Chef Is Opening a Napa Restaurant with Cottagecore Vibes

A historic Yountville train station from the 1800s has been given new life as a playful new restaurant called Clementine that blends quirky cottagecore design with cuisine from one of Baja California’s most celebrated chefs. Rebecca Weitzman, formerly the Executive Chef and Culinary Director at the celebrated Flora Farms in San José del Cabo, has found a new home for herself in Napa Valley, and the space is a real stunner. Designer Julie King collaborated with renowned interior designer Candace Hickman, known for her work with SoHo House, to create a space that honors building’s bones while embracing a fresh, whimsical spirit.

“I went down a rabbit hole of vintage Mediterranean everything—old photographs, vintage wine and food labels, and menu designs from past decades are a favorite of mine,” says King, who drew inspiration from the restaurant’s citrusy name for the color palette of oranges and leafy greens, with nods to ever-popular patio pounder, Aperol spritzes.

The restaurant features hand-painted lampshades, quirky artwork, and unexpected details throughout. Custom details include hand-illustrated menus, embroidered napkins, and cheeky touches that reflect the restaurant’s playful personality. There isn’t a dull place in the room, and it’s a true feast for the senses when paired with Executive Chef Rebecca Weitzman’s farm-to-table menu that presents Northern California’s seasonal ingredients with unfussy elegance. Weitzman has a flare for this sort of earthy, unfussy cooking; she earned a Michelin Green Star at Flora Farms, and there couldn’t be a better place to bring it than California’s wine country.

Making good use of the Mediterranean weather of the region, an outdoor wood-fired grill will be used for dishes like a half-chicken from Mary’s Chickens in Petaluma served with a pine nut romesco or a slow-cooked, wood-grilled octopus paired with artichokes served three ways. Clementine also has a stone deck oven for seasonally-driven flatbreads, plus a menu full of fresh seafood and seasonally driven produce and salads.

It can all be enjoyed on the classic indoor-outdoor space shaded by olive and citrus trees. Located at Estate Yountville in the heart of wine country. Nestled on 22 acres, the luxury resort features 191 rooms across two hotels, Vintage House and Hotel Villagio, as well as The Villa, a private five-bedroom retreat with a private pool and full kitchen. Guests can enjoy three restaurants, a bar, a world-class spa, a fitness center, wedding and meeting venues, and stunning vineyard views.
