Disneyland is celebrating a milestone birthday this year—its 70th—and the big party kicked off on May 16. From now until summer 2026, visitors can enjoy new and returning parades and shows, themed food and beverages, special merchandise collections, and exciting additions to rides and attractions.
Walt Disney hope that Disneyland would be “a source of joy and inspiration to all the world” when he opened it in 1955, and it’s definitely became a joyful place and so much more. Over seven decades, Disneyland Park has become Disneyland Resort with two theme parks, three hotels, and the Downtown Disney District.
If you want to pay a visit to this totally iconic Western destination, there are a few things you need to know to make the most of the festivities. Take a look at some highlights below and go to the resort’s website for more details.

Disney is debuting a new nighttime spectacular at Disney California Adventure Park, “World of Color Happiness!,” which is inspired by Walt Disney’s opening day speech, “To all who come to this happy place… welcome!” The water show features a Muppets pre-show, characters from beloved Disney films (Inside Out, A Goofy Movie, Encanto, and more), and songs performed by Boyz II Men and FITZ.

There are also two parades returning with a few updates: the joyful LED celebration, “Paint the Night,” at Disneyland Park, and the daytime “Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration” at Disney California Adventure.

There are also toys (new bubble wands!) and home decor to check out. But the standout collectible is “Key to Disneyland,” which has an interactive feature: Guests will have to travel throughout the park to “unlock” the nine lands in the key at special 70th Anniversary lock stations. Once all nine lands are “unlocked,” a special pin inside the key will be revealed.
