Cloud note-taking was great, but somewhere between quiet outages, surprise interface redesigns, and the nudge to upgrade, I felt like I was spending too much time adapting to the tools rather than productively using them. However, the idea that my notes stayed behind a glass wall was the biggest source of friction. They were mine but not accessible in a way that felt permanent or dependable.
