Pantone’s Color of the Year always sparks intense debate and strong opinions. Remember when there were TWO colors in 2021 and 2016? And it looks like the 2026 pick is keeping the tradition strong—it’s PANTONE 11-4201 Cloud Dancer, “a billowy white imbued with a feeling of serenity.”
Yes, for the first time ever, Pantone has chosen white as its Color of the Year. The reasoning behind it? The Pantone team says the blank canvas hue comes from a collective desire for a fresh start—getting rid of outdated thinking and opening the door to new approaches.
Additionally, in a world where it seems everyone is burnt out, the team says that Cloud Dancer encourages true relaxation and focus. In short, step away from our screens and all the noise and take a minute to just breathe and be.

“At this time of transformation, when we are reimagining our future and our place in the world, PANTONE 11-4201 Cloud Dancer is a discrete white hue offering a promise of clarity,” Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, said in a press release. “The cacophony that surrounds us has become overwhelming, making it harder to hear the voices of our inner selves. A conscious statement of simplification, Cloud Dancer enhances our focus, providing release from the distraction of external influences.”
Along with the 2026 announcement, Pantone is launching a creative initiative that supports the artist community and color enthusiasts. The color authority will be releasing limited-edition designs from artists (graphic designers, fashion designers, and more) that showcase their interpretations of Cloud Dancer.

So, will you be incorporating more of this hue into your life in 2026? Pantone has partnered with various brands to bring the color to life through products and experiences. For example, Joybird and Pura have products inspired by the hue; Spotify has curated a Pantone Color of the Year 2026 playlist; Motorola has created a special edition Motorola Edge 70 embellished with Swarovski crystals; and Mandarin Oriental will offer Cloud Dancer culinary and spa experiences across 10 of its properties.
